The short version: MedMate does not collect your data. Your medications, history, health
readings, pill photos and profile are stored only on your device. There are no accounts, no servers, no ads, and
no tracking.
Data Not Collected
Who we are
MedMate (“the app”) is developed by Sternzy (“we,” “us”). This policy explains how the app handles your
information. It applies to the MedMate iOS application.
What we store
All the information you enter — your medications and schedules, dose history, your recorded health readings
(blood pressure, temperature, weight, blood sugar, oxygen, pain, and “how you feel”), drug notes, drug sets,
pill photos, and profile (name, date of birth, allergies, conditions, doctor, pharmacy, emergency contact) —
is stored only on your device.
MedMate has no account or login. We do not collect your information or send it to ourselves, and there is no
third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software in the app.
Looking things up
When you type or scan a medicine name, MedMate may send just that name to public medical
databases — the U.S. National Library of Medicine’s RxNorm service (to confirm it’s a real
medicine) and the U.S. FDA’s openFDA service (drug-interaction text, label information, and
commonly reported reactions) — to show you the results.
“Look up on Drugs.com” and the Drugs.com interaction checker open links in your browser.
These lookups send only the medicine name — not your identity or any of your other information — and we do not
receive, store, or share what is looked up.
Notifications
MedMate uses your device’s local notifications to remind you to take your medications, to reorder when a supply
runs low, and — if you turn it on — to back up your data. All of these are scheduled on your device; no notification
server is involved.
Backups and sharing
If you use “Back Up Now,” MedMate creates a backup file and you choose where to put it (for example Files,
iCloud Drive, or AirDrop). When you share or print your list, MedMate makes a PDF that you can optionally protect
with a password. In both cases the file is created on your device and stays under your control — we never receive
it, and any password protection is applied on your device (the password is not sent anywhere). Apple’s handling of
iCloud data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Permissions the app uses
Camera — to scan a prescription label and take a photo of your pill. Images are processed
and saved on your device.
Children’s privacy
MedMate is not directed at children and does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and post the revised version here.
