Gentle medication reminders · by Sternzy
For each scheduled dose, MedMate shows a reminder on your iPhone at the time you set. If you turn on “Repeat until taken,” it keeps reminding you every few minutes until you tap the dose’s circle. You can pick a sound and tone in Settings ▸ Reminders.
Reminders are local notifications, so they only appear if your iPhone is on and notifications are allowed for MedMate. Check Settings (iOS) ▸ Notifications ▸ MedMate, and make sure Focus / Do Not Disturb isn’t silencing them. “Override silent mode” needs Apple’s Critical Alerts approval and may not be available. Always keep a backup way to track your doses.
Open Settings ▸ Display and drag the “Text size” slider, or turn on “Bold text.” It changes the text size everywhere in the app. (On iPad the text starts larger by default.)
Yes. In Settings ▸ Display ▸ “How you enter numbers,” pick whatever is easiest for you: Automatic (a tap-to-spin dial for each number, the default), Spin wheels, Plus / minus buttons, or a keypad. This is how you enter your metric readings on the Metrics tab.
Tap the Metrics tab at the bottom, then tap the metric you want — blood pressure, temperature, weight, blood sugar, oxygen, pain, or “how I feel.” You enter the numbers by spinning a dial or tapping the plus and minus buttons — no keyboard needed — and each reading starts filled in with your last value (or a normal starting point), so it’s usually just a small change. Its button shows your latest reading and the date, and everything you record also appears on the History tab.
Yes. On the Metrics tab, tap a metric to open its screen — it lists every reading, newest first. Tap a reading to edit it, or swipe it left to delete it. You can also tap a reading on the History tab to edit it there.
A Drug Set is a named, colored group of pills you take together — like “Morning pills.” Set them up under Meds ▸ Sets, then choose which dose times belong to the set. On the Today screen those pills gather under their time in one colored card, and you can check the whole group off with a single tap.
Go to Settings ▸ Health Data ▸ Import Blood Pressure (CSV) and pick a CSV file. Put a header row first, then one
reading per line as date, upper, lower, heartrate (heart rate optional), for example:
2026-06-30,128,82,70. Dates like 2026-06-30 or 06/30/2026 both work. If a line has a problem
(such as a future date from a typo), MedMate shows a review screen so you can fix or skip it before importing.
Settings ▸ Backup & Restore ▸ “Back Up Now” saves a single file with everything — your medications, history, health readings, drug sets, pill photos, and settings — that you can keep in Files or iCloud Drive, or AirDrop to another device. On the new phone, install MedMate and use “Restore from Backup” to bring it all back.
Yes. In Settings ▸ Backup & Restore, turn on “Remind me to back up” and choose how often (every 7 days by default). If you haven’t backed up in that long, MedMate sends a gentle reminder. Backing up resets the timer.
Yes. Tap “Export / Print Medication List” at the bottom of any screen, choose what to include, then turn on “Password-protect the PDF” and enter a password. The PDF is locked and can only be opened with that password. Keep the password somewhere safe — a lost password can’t be recovered.
Yes. Everything you enter stays on your device — there’s no account and we don’t collect your data. When you verify a drug name or check interactions, only the medicine’s name is sent to public medical databases (NIH RxNorm, FDA openFDA) to look up information; it isn’t stored or shared by us. See our Privacy Policy.
Yes — tap “Export / Print Medication List” at the bottom of any screen, choose what to include (profile, medications, and any of your health readings — blood pressure, temperature, weight, blood sugar, oxygen, pain, how you feel, and notes), then share or print the PDF.
